How do I make myself admin on my Palworld server?

Palworld doesn’t keep a list of admins. You set an admin password in PalWorldSettings.ini, then type it into the game’s chat. Anyone who enters the right password gets admin powers, so treat it like the keys to the place.

Set the admin password

  1. Stop your server from the Game Panel.
  2. Open your Game Panel’s file manager and go to Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/ or Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/. Which one you have depends on whether your server runs Palworld’s Linux or Windows build.
  3. Open PalWorldSettings.ini. Everything is on one long line that starts OptionSettings=(.
  4. Find AdminPassword= on that line and put your password inside the quote marks after it, like AdminPassword="something-long-and-yours".
  5. Save the file and start your server.

If the file is empty, or the OptionSettings line isn’t there, follow How do I change the game settings on my Palworld server? to set it up first.

Become admin in the game

  1. Join your server.
  2. Press Enter to open the chat.
  3. Type /AdminPassword followed by a space and your password, then press Enter.

That’s it. The admin commands below now work for you.

What admin lets you do

Type these in the chat the same way. Where a command needs <SteamID>, that’s the player’s Steam ID. Use /ShowPlayers to look up who’s connected.

Command What it does
/ShowPlayers Shows everyone who’s connected.
/KickPlayer <SteamID> Kicks a player from the server.
/BanPlayer <SteamID> Bans a player from the server.
/UnBanPlayer <SteamID> Lifts a ban.
/Broadcast <message> Sends a message to everyone on the server.
/TeleportToPlayer <SteamID> Takes you to a player.
/TeleportToMe <SteamID> Brings a player to you.
/ToggleSpectate Switches spectator mode on or off.
/Info Shows the server’s information.
/Save Saves the world now.
/Shutdown <seconds> <message> Shuts the server down after a countdown and shows players your message. Both parts are optional.
/DoExit Force-stops the server straight away.

/Shutdown and /DoExit stop the server. Start it again from your Game Panel afterwards.

Tip

Type /Save before /DoExit. A force stop is exactly that, so saving first means nobody loses their last few minutes.

Keep the two passwords different

Palworld has two passwords, and they do very different jobs:

  • ServerPassword is the one everyone needs to join. You’ll be handing it out to your mates.
  • AdminPassword gives admin powers to whoever types it.

If they’re the same, every player who can join can also make themselves admin. Pick a separate, longer admin password and keep it to yourself.

Warning

Because there’s no admin list, the password is the only thing between a player and admin. If it gets out, change AdminPassword with the server stopped, then start it again.

If you set a password and the commands still don’t work, the server may not be reading your edits. See Why aren’t my Palworld server settings changing?

Support

Still stuck?

Ask the assistant in your Game Panel. It can read your server's console, logs and config to find what's wrong, and changes nothing until you approve it. For anything that needs a person, email us.
