Satisfactory plans
Every plan comes with everything further down this page. What changes is the RAM and the player slots, and Satisfactory wants more RAM as your factory spreads across the map. Tell us how many of you play and whether you'll use mods, and we'll show you where to start.
Start with 10 slots and up to 16 GB for 5 to 8 players.

Tell me when it opensSatisfactory servers let 4 players in by default, and 4 is what Coffee Stain supports. You can raise the limit in Game.ini, but the official wiki warns the server is tuned for four. Its guidance is 8 GB of RAM, and 16 GB for big saves or more than 4 players. Coffee Stain doesn't publish a figure of its own. Factories only get bigger, so expect to need more as yours grows.
These sizes are a guide. Mods, game settings and updates can all change how much RAM a server needs.

Server set-up
Most of a Satisfactory server's set-up happens inside the game, in the Server Manager, rather than in a config file. Here's the order, from adding the server to getting your crew in.
1 of 7
Open the Server Manager from Satisfactory's main menu and add your server by its address and port. Dedicated servers are added and joined here, not through Join Game.
2 of 7
The first time you connect, the game shows the server's own self-signed certificate and asks you to confirm it. Confirm it once and the game remembers it for that server.
3 of 7
A new server belongs to whoever claims it first, so claim yours as soon as it's built. Give it a name and an admin password, and you're its admin.
4 of 7
Create a new game on the server, or upload a save from your PC in the Manage Saves tab and load it. Until one is loaded, the server is running but nobody can join.
5 of 7
Player password protection is off by default, so anyone with your address can join. Set a password to keep the server to your crew. Change it later and everyone enters the new one.
6 of 7
Auto-pause, saving when a player leaves, the autosave interval and network quality are all switches in the Server Manager. The player limit is the one setting that lives in a file.
7 of 7
Your crew add the server in their own Server Manager with the same address, enter the player password and join from there. Steam and Epic players can play together.
Steps from Coffee Stain's Dedicated Server API docs, which ship with the game, and the official Satisfactory wiki, checked on version 1.2.4.1. Console players can't join dedicated servers at all.
Mods
Satisfactory has no official mod support, but Coffee Stain built the PC game to be modded and the community has run with it. You have full access to your server's files, so you can add mods yourself.
Big Satisfactory updates, especially ones that change the game's engine version, usually break mods until their authors catch up. Keep a backup from before you update.
Settings
Nearly everything is set as admin in the game's Server Manager. The player limit is the exception, and it lives in Game.ini. Here's what each one does.
Both are set when you claim the server. The admin password guards loading saves, the server's options and starting new games. You can change it, but you can't remove it.
SettingsServer NameAdmin Password
Off by default, so anyone with the address can join. It has to be different from the admin password.
SettingPlayer Password Protection
Four by default. Raise it in Game.ini with the server stopped. The official wiki warns the server is tuned for four, so more players means more work for it and more RAM.
SettingMaxPlayers
Pauses the game while nobody's connected. Switch it off if you'd rather the factory kept producing with everyone logged off.
SettingAuto Pause
The server autosaves every 5 minutes by default and keeps the last three. It can also save whenever a player disconnects. Our daily backups come on top, and you can download them.
SettingsAutosave IntervalAuto-Save on Player Disconnect
The session the server loads the latest save of when it starts. Check it after you upload a save, so a restart picks up the right factory.
SettingAuto-Load Session Name
Higher settings can improve load times and network performance for players, at the cost of the server's frame rate.
SettingNetwork Quality
7777 over UDP and TCP, plus 8888 over TCP for reliable messaging, unless they're changed. Players only enter the first: the game finds the second for itself.

Joining
Everyone joins through the Server Manager, on Steam or Epic.
In Satisfactory's main menu, open the Server Manager, add a server and enter your server's address and port from the panel. Using Join Game instead gets you an "Encryption token missing" error.
The first time, the game shows the server's own certificate and asks whether you trust it. Confirm it once and the game remembers it.
If you've set one, everyone types it in the Server Manager, then joins from there. Steam and Epic players join the same way.
203.0.113.24
An example address. Add your port with it: 7777 is Satisfactory's usual one, and yours is in the panel.

FAQ
What people ask before they rent a Satisfactory server.
We recommend up to 8 GB for up to 4 players, up to 16 GB for 5 to 8 players and up to 24 GB for 9 or more players. Our RAM sizes are a guide, based on player count. What a server really uses also depends on its mods and plugins, its settings (map size, view distance and spawn rates all count), how much its world grows over time, and the game's own updates. If you're planning a modded server, start a size up.
Four by default, and four is what Coffee Stain supports. You can raise MaxPlayers in Game.ini. The official wiki says up to 127 is possible in theory but not in practice, and warns the server is tuned for four, so more players means more RAM and a busier server.
Yes. Players on the Steam and Epic versions of Satisfactory can both join a dedicated server, whichever store the server itself came from.
No. Coffee Stain has said the console versions won't be able to join dedicated servers, and there's no crossplay between PC and console. Console players can still play together in sessions hosted on their consoles.
Yes. Claim the server, open the Manage Saves tab in the Server Manager, upload the save from your PC and load it. The server has to be on the same version of Satisfactory as your game, because a save that's too new or too old won't load.
Only with Auto Pause switched off. With it on, the server pauses the game while nobody's connected. You'll find it in the Server Manager's settings for your server.
Yes, through the community's Satisfactory Mod Manager and the mods on ficsit.app. Coffee Stain doesn't support mods officially, big updates tend to break them for a while, and everyone who joins a modded server needs a modded game too.
Stop the server and delete its server settings file, ServerSettings.7777.sav (the number is your server's port), then claim the server again. If you can't see that file in your Game Panel's file manager, open a ticket and we'll delete it for you. Your saves stay, but the server's name, player password, auto-load choice and certificate all reset. Download a backup from your Game Panel first.
